the violence of a fence builder’s dream
that masks the phrasing of
all the pleasures of home

– Fugazi, Place Position

An excerpt from a poem by Yogesh Chawla

the big wheels and children’s toys
are sprawled on the pavement
like bodies-
the casualties of this isolating loneliness

I can see them from my room
under the still heaviness of night
the faint light hanging in the corners
like spiderwebs.
