PGI Moon Watching Night
Autumnal Equinox
Sept. 20, 2002
Reynolds Park
Renga 2
Cream ball of light
you have no spokes, no explosions.
Blade of grass with glow but
only at the fingertips.
You quiver in my gaze.
Your energy taps my cheeks
like raindrop pins.
Moony moon June
go away streetlights
so I can get the moon.
The rubber of tires
screeches but in the sky
you are still, silent.
It’s like you’re waiting for us
to stop. To just leave
you alone.
To watch your children
as they glow
proudly and surely, in the
dark, and never afraid.
