PGI Moon Watching Night
Autumnal Equinox
Sept. 20, 2002
Reynolds Park
Renga 3
If the moon was bright enough
it could blot these auto dealership-
Oldsmobile signs. Be so bright
as to incriminate the grass
lurking around sidewalks and parking lots
lift our pens from this paper
and drive us out to sea
and crowd oceans with metaphor
salty like the sweat between our fingers.
Our bodies will rock in song,
and we will drink ocean water.
The tides of layered regrets will rise
and wash away all judgement
We will rejoice in the salt
and never be parched.
Thirst, my love
no more.
