Do You Celebrate Christmas?

Hindu child
do you put the gifts under the six foot turban
while you ride camels
praying to the belly dancers?
Laughs through the room
but my skin tone
hides my blush.
Pretending to care
because they do.
I study Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
Listen to lectures from Santa.
Memorize the placement of the ornaments on the tree.
Because if I fail the test
They will know
that my immigrant parents
reenacted Hollywood movies
with plastic trees and empty present boxes
without knowing why.
