My Son is Sleeping (through this war)
by: Paul Terranova

Today I don't feel like
    tearing anything down,
    skewering the hateful or
    pulling back the flickering
digital curtains to
expose the corpses.

My son is sleeping through this war.
They say if you sleep close to children,
they breathe in time with you.
They say if you sleep close to children,
they will not stop, forget to
        breathe and float away while
    you are not watching.

I am sitting close while my son
    sleeps through this war.
I am breathing deeply
    while my son sleeps
        through this war.
